Matthew Taylor was born and raised in the beautiful Sierra Nevada region of California, where he developed a love for nature and exploring the outdoors. Even though he now lives in Los Angeles, he continues to seek out the tranquility of remote areas and backpacks frequently.

When he is not working on crafting the perfect narrative for Northern Seekers clients, Matthew can be found cycling, reading, or writing short fiction.

Secret Talent: I can fall asleep just about anywhere, including a bright, noisy room or a cave in the Gobi Desert (yes, I know this from experience). Whether this is actually a talent or a defect is still up for debate.

Source of Inspiration: Even something as simple as a product description is better when it is inspired by a bit of literary flair. I treat each bit of copywriting as I would a short story or poem...and if I’m feeling stuck, spending a few minutes with one of my favorite books is sure to get me out of my rut and back in rhythm.

Important Fact: I think you can tell a lot about a person based on what they like to read (or what films/art/music they appreciate, if literature isn’t their thing.) Some of my favorite authors include Thomas Pynchon, Roberto Bolano, Djuna Barnes, James Joyce, and Thomas Mann.

Zen Place: The Iva Bell Hot Springs are a group of natural hot tubs on a gentle incline in a meadow in the Eastern Sierra. The hike to reach them takes all day and is fairly difficult, but the reward of setting up a tent under the stars and soaking in the tranquil tubs is well worth it.
